[Monday Minute] Don't forget to test it

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute!

Today I wanted to remind you about testing your processes.

On a coaching call last week, one of my clients was confused about what the consumer experience would look like and "hoped" that it was good.

The good news: you don't have to guess when it comes to this stuff. EVERYTHING can be tested.

Whether you're a brick-and-mortar business owner or an online business owner, I can bet you have some sort of process you have each of your clients to go through when they start working with you or when they buy something from you.

Some scenarios and suggestions:

  1. If you have an intake process, make yourself a fake client account and go through the whole process yourself. Notice something you want to change? Do that.
  2. If you are selling online, create a coupon code for 100% off and actually go through the whole process of buying the item from sales page to checkout to the follow-up email.
  3. Have an email sequence or automation set-up? Fill out the form/opt-in that triggers that automation using a test email account.
  4. Have a waitlist? Add your own email to that waitlist so you see your emails as they go out to the waitlist so you can make sure they actually get sent out.

Whatever your process is, once you build it, my suggestion would be to actually go through the whole process yourself so that you know everything is working as it should and so you can explain what the process will look like when someone asks you (this one is important).

While it seems so simple, I know it's often skipped.

Don't forget to test whatever it is you're using as a part of your consumer journey. Opt-in forms, purchases, intakes, thank you pages, testimonial requests. Everything.

Catch you next Monday,

Lex

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! I learned a concept in grad school called "The Spoon Theory" from a patient I treated who had multiple sclerosis (MS). You can read more about The Spoon Theory here (please do). In short, the concept was coined by writer Christine Miserandino, who was living with a chronic illness. She used "spoons" to depict her finite amount of energy each day to live her life and complete the necessary daily tasks from eating and getting dressed to...

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! Today, I want to share a DM I received from a friend on Instagram. As you may or may not know, I have monthly done-for-you SEO services and as a part of that service, I write blogs for clients. I enjoy it so much because I get to help my clients get found on Google but I also get to use my physical therapist brain (I know most people in my ecosystem know that I am trained as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, but I also have others tell me...

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! Let's talk about video hosting and where you should host your videos: Vimeo or YouTube? In short: Vimeo: unlisted videos (videos you don't want to share with the world) Youtube: public videos I use Vimeo for all private videos and videos I want to embed on a website or share a link to via an email and for anything I have behind a paywall. Why not just have "unlisted" YouTube videos, you ask? Because you have no control over the ads that...
