[Monday Minute] Give it away

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute!

Today, I want to share a DM I received from a friend on Instagram.

As you may or may not know, I have monthly done-for-you SEO services and as a part of that service, I write blogs for clients.

I enjoy it so much because I get to help my clients get found on Google but I also get to use my physical therapist brain (I know most people in my ecosystem know that I am trained as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, but I also have others tell me they had no idea I'm a PT. So, if you didn't, now you do.)

Anyway, last week, after writing a blog for one of my clients, I posted a picture of the title on my Instagram stories for my own marketing and to share the joy I have for my work. I'll share a screenshot of that story below.

In response to that story, I received the following DM:

My point: people are looking for answers to their problems for themselves and their loved ones.

I titled this email "give it away" for a reason: I learned very early from Shanté (@themovementmaestro) to teach everything I know on Instagram. I've heard her teach this for 16 rounds of her Instagram Intensive and I've followed her advice for years at this point.

Relaying this advice to you as it relates to the DM exchange above and blogging/SEO: give away your knowledge on the internet by writing blog posts for your ideal client.

People are looking for answers on Google every single day.

You may be wondering about the value of doing this. I mean... if you give away everything you know in a blog post, why would they pay you?

  1. By giving someone who reads your blog a win (a "win"= you might teach them something new, make them feel something, or give them next steps), they gain trust in you as a provider/teacher.
  2. They will still pay you to get answers that are specific to them and their needs.
  3. People will pay you for accountability and a plan.

Create content, make it easy to find on your website, give it all away, and share the content you create.

Catch you next Monday,

Lex

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! I learned a concept in grad school called "The Spoon Theory" from a patient I treated who had multiple sclerosis (MS). You can read more about The Spoon Theory here (please do). In short, the concept was coined by writer Christine Miserandino, who was living with a chronic illness. She used "spoons" to depict her finite amount of energy each day to live her life and complete the necessary daily tasks from eating and getting dressed to...

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! Today I wanted to remind you about testing your processes. On a coaching call last week, one of my clients was confused about what the consumer experience would look like and "hoped" that it was good. The good news: you don't have to guess when it comes to this stuff. EVERYTHING can be tested. Whether you're a brick-and-mortar business owner or an online business owner, I can bet you have some sort of process you have each of your clients...

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! Let's talk about video hosting and where you should host your videos: Vimeo or YouTube? In short: Vimeo: unlisted videos (videos you don't want to share with the world) Youtube: public videos I use Vimeo for all private videos and videos I want to embed on a website or share a link to via an email and for anything I have behind a paywall. Why not just have "unlisted" YouTube videos, you ask? Because you have no control over the ads that...
