[Monday Minute] YouTube or Vimeo?

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute!

Let's talk about video hosting and where you should host your videos: Vimeo or YouTube?

In short:

  • Vimeo: unlisted videos (videos you don't want to share with the world)
  • Youtube: public videos

I use Vimeo for all private videos and videos I want to embed on a website or share a link to via an email and for anything I have behind a paywall.

Why not just have "unlisted" YouTube videos, you ask? Because you have no control over the ads that play at the end of the video and you aren't able to customize the player like you can on Vimeo.

What Youtube is great for: all of your public-facing videos and podcast episodes.

Examples of what platform I'd use in different scenarios.

  • Course videos Vimeo
  • Exercise videos Vimeo or Youtube, depending on your goal. Is it patient-specific (Vimeo) or are you just demoing how to fix back pain or do a squat (YouTube)? Is it part of a paid course (YouTube)? Choose accordingly.
  • Coaching call recordingsVimeo
  • Podcast episodes Youtube
  • Any recorded tutorial videos and the like that you want to be discoverable Youtube

The price difference: YouTube is free. Vimeo is about $20/mo.

Alrighty, that's all I have for you.

Have a great week!

Lex

ps- where Vimeo is linked above, it is an affiliate link, of course ;) If you decide to use it when you open your Vimeo account, know that you're supporting Moose & Rupert's best life fund 😋

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! Today, I want to give you a quick formatting lesson for your website. I'll paint the picture first: Imagine we're on your home page banner. You've got "The best physical therapy practice in Mooserupert Land, California" and because it's a long line of text, it breaks to the next line after Mooserupert and before Land, so it looks like this: Most people will tell me "I don't want it to split after Mooserupert, I want it to split so that...
