[Monday Minute] Google My Business & a tip

Reader!

Happy Monday and welcome to the Monday Minute (yep, name change from Monthly Minute. I need a schedule, so I decided Mondays are better than "Monthly". More predictable for you AND me).

Before we jump in, I've got two announcements for you.

1. The waitlist for SEO School closes THIS FRIDAY! SEO School is my 6-month "learn everything you need to know about SEO" hybrid course for brick-and-mortar and online business owners. There is no obligation to buy if you join the waitlist, but you will save $$ and get access to some sweet bonuses if you enroll during waitlist enrollment next week!

2. Shante's Instagram Intensive is officially open for enrollment! If you want to learn how to use Instagram for your business, the Instagram Intensive is the ONLY course I recommend. Click here to learn more and enroll (affiliate link that supports Moose & Rupert's best life!).

This week's Minute will focus on understanding Google My Business.

A Google My Business is a small part of SEO (search engine optimization aka getting found on Google) strategy for my local business owners.

The purpose of a Google My Business: tell Google that a business exists at a particular address.

What a Google My Business alone DOESN'T do: put you at the top of Google Search results.

This should make sense. If 10 physical therapy practices exist in the same town at different locations and they all have a Google My Business, they all can't have their website or their address/business be #1 in the map pack...

→ Something has to be the differentiator here to rank them 1-100+.

That's where optimizing for Google aka SEO comes in. And that's why SEO School exists, tbh.

It's so much more than just a Google My Business problem when you're not ranking locally.

Here's one thing you can do: When you write content for your website, like a blog post, make sure you're giving your audience a call to action at the end. Focus on educating, and then give them a place to go for a solution. Let them know that they can book an appointment with you in *insert your town and state here* office.

Example for a blog post about dry needling: If you're looking for dry needling treatment and you're located in *insert your town, your state here* area, we'd (or I) would love to help you. Feel free to book a free discovery call by clicking here (link to your online scheduler).

With that simple statement, you're associating your town and your state with a specific service on your website. One small differentiator for helping with improving your ranking in search results.

Have a great week!
Lex

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! I learned a concept in grad school called "The Spoon Theory" from a patient I treated who had multiple sclerosis (MS). You can read more about The Spoon Theory here (please do). In short, the concept was coined by writer Christine Miserandino, who was living with a chronic illness. She used "spoons" to depict her finite amount of energy each day to live her life and complete the necessary daily tasks from eating and getting dressed to...

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! Today, I want to share a DM I received from a friend on Instagram. As you may or may not know, I have monthly done-for-you SEO services and as a part of that service, I write blogs for clients. I enjoy it so much because I get to help my clients get found on Google but I also get to use my physical therapist brain (I know most people in my ecosystem know that I am trained as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, but I also have others tell me...

Happy Monday, Reader and welcome to the Monday Minute! Today I wanted to remind you about testing your processes. On a coaching call last week, one of my clients was confused about what the consumer experience would look like and "hoped" that it was good. The good news: you don't have to guess when it comes to this stuff. EVERYTHING can be tested. Whether you're a brick-and-mortar business owner or an online business owner, I can bet you have some sort of process you have each of your clients...
